New Student Registration Process

Congratulations! We are excited to have you join our Statesmen family! Please see the student registration process below:

Our enrollment process would normally take place at the school.  Due to COVID-19, our school (and all schools in DC) have moved to a distant learning platform.  Our offices will have a very limited in-person presence until April 27, 2020. To support the physical distancing efforts of the city, the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) has released updated guidance on how to complete the enrollment process. Please use the following steps to secure a seat for your scholar:

  1. By now, you should have received a waitlist offer from MySchool DC. Please log onto the portal using the credentials that you created when applying for schools and accept the offer from Statesmen College Preparatory Academy for Boys PCS.

  2. Next, gather the documentation necessary to begin the enrollment process.  A list of necessary documents can be found on our website. These documents are also outlined below.

  3. When you have all documentation available and are ready to submit, please send the documentation to us using one of the following submission options:

    1. Scan and e-mail the documents to enrollment@statesmenboys.org

    2. Mail the documents directly to our school using the address below.

Within the next 48-72 hours, you will receive a call from a member of our Team. They will welcome you to Statesmen Academy and answer any questions you may have about the enrollment process.

It is imperative that all documentation below is received no later than Wednesday, May 27, 2020. This is the window to (1) register your student and (2) have access to a guaranteed seat for the 2020-2021 school year. After this time, you will be required to re-apply and possibly be added to our waiting list.

The following documents are required to complete enrollment:

In some cases, the following documentation may be required:

  • Proof of legal guardianship

  • Copy of Individualized Education Plan (IEP)/504 plan

  • DC Asthma Action Plan

Please note that the MSDC Enrollment Form is a requirement of the new student enrollment process. Signing this form releases your offer at any other DC public or public charter school.

Existing Student Registration Process (for returning students)

This is the window to (1) register your student and (2) have access to a guaranteed seat for the 2020-2021 school year. After this time, you may possibly lose your current seat and be required to re-apply and possibly be added to our waiting list.

Please see outlined details below regarding the residency verification process- taken directly from The OSSE Office of Enrollment and Residency website

DC Residency Verification Process- Required for new and returning students

(Guidance taken directly from the OSSE website)

To be enrolled in any DC public school, a parent/primary caregiver must show original documents as proof of DC residency for each student assigned to or wishing to attend a traditional public or public charter school in the District. A completed DC Residency Verification Form must be completed to determine residency.

One of the following items is accepted to establish DC residency:

  • A pay stub;

  • Supplemental Security Income annual benefits notification;

  • A copy of Form D40 certified by the DC Office of Tax and Revenue;

  • Military Housing Order;

  • An embassy letter;

  • Proof that a child is a ward of the District of Columbia, in the form of a Court Order; and

  • Proof of financial assistance from the DC Government, in the form of either a:

  • Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) verification of income notice or recertification approval letter;

  • Medicaid approval letter or recertification letter;

  • Housing assistance letter from a housing shelter, including contact name and phone number or a letter from the Housing Authority; or

  • Proof of receipt of financial assistance from another DC Government program.

If none of the above items are available to verify residency, two of the following items are required:

  • Unexpired DC motor vehicle registration;

  • Unexpired lease or rental agreement;

  • Unexpired DC motor vehicle operator's permit or another official non-driver identification;

  • One utility bill (only gas, electric and water bills acceptable)

Please see other forms of verification below:

Verify with a school official. If you are experiencing homelessness, a ward of the District, and/or a participant of a District public benefits program, such as Medicaid, Supplementation Nutrition Assistance Program, or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families – your school may already have your information. Check with your school official or the school’s homeless liaison.

Verify through the Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR). Re-enrolling families/students are often able to verify residency using OTR residency verification process. The enrolling person must have paid taxes in DC during the previous fiscal year and have the student’s Social Security number. The student must be re-enrolling in the same local education agency and enrolling in grades K-12. Login to the system at ossedctax.com. If successful, your verification will then be available for your school to confirm.
